the .wellnest. approach

Designing spaces dedicated to the homes of tomorrow necessarily means working in synergy with experienced professionals from different fields in order to combine the sometimes very complex requirements characterized by aspects such as sustainability, climate resistance, efficiency, functional appropriateness of the design, flexibility, etc.

When designing buildings according to the “WellNest” approach, the focus of each design is therefore on human comfort. When we talk about comfort, we mean the perception of psychophysical well-being that we experience when we are in an environment. This is a fundamental aspect, since we spend many hours indoors, whether for work or leisure.

Our services

Psychophysical Well-Being

WellNest is founded on the principle of psychophysical well-being, the integration of mental and physical health. We embrace a holistic vision where true wellness stems from emotional, social, spiritual, and physical balance.

To support this, we discover three integrated paths to reach psychophysical well-being that fit our approach:

Start
with Awareness

Environmental Assessment

Understand how your space affects your daily health. We identify stressors and hidden triggers, revealing how your environment can nurture, or disrupt,  your inner balance.

Design
with Intention

Human-Centered Space Design

Shape spaces that support the mind-body connection. Through natural elements, thoughtful materials, and purposeful layouts, we create environments that heal, inspire, and energize.

Fine-Tune
Your Comfort

Smart Comfort Optimization

Adjust the essentials (light, sound, air, and flow) to build a space that responds to your needs and promotes continuous well-being.

BUILDING objectives

Based on these considerations, the design and modeling of a new sustainable building approach addresses key global factors, which can be measured through specific performance indicators (pre- and post-intervention).
This approach allows for both modularization and recognition as a “virtuous model” for future homes.
Our approach focuses on several factors that contribute to psychophysical model, which can be actively influenced:

  • - Energy efficiency (buildings and systems);
  • - Comfort, well-being and healthiness of the environment;
  • - Limitation of anthropogenic impacts (air, water, waste, noise, resources, biodiversity);
  • - Resilience to climate change;
  • - Indoor and urban greenery.
  • - Functional and architectural adequacy of spaces (efficiency, humanization, ergonomics, hygiene, health, design, etc.);
  • - Safety and security;
  • - Efficiency and flexibility of spaces (management, technology and equipment);
  • - Digitalization of building design and management (BIM/GIS methodologies);
  • - Capabilities and functions for digital innovation.
  • - Supporting home care to respond to health and social-health needs by using systematic logics of initiative medicine and taking charge through digitized service models (telediagnosis, telemedicine, telemonitoring, telerehabilitation);
  • - Enabling remote support by multi-professional teams that take care of the person in an integrated way;
  • - Supporting animal (companion) welfare;
  • - Supporting sustainable nutrition and food security.

KPI

As we already said the WellNest approach is grounded in five macro areas that influence psychophysical well-being: sustainability, biophysics, environmental quality, acoustics, and optics. When these parameters are kept within optimal ranges, well-being becomes a measurable and certifiable condition, no longer just a subjective experience.

For the purpose of measurability, some examples of KPIs are given below, broken down by macro area:

SUSTAINABILITY

Environmentally friendly design and materials | Emissions | Energy savings | Energy efficiency | Cogeneration | Modularity and flexibility of furniture and equipment | Presence of greenery | Low maintenance requirements | Easy to install | Strong and durable | Fire resistant | Sanitizable | Safe

BIOPHYSICS

Temperature levels | Humidity levels | Pressure levels | Air velocity | Radiant maps | Transmittance levels | Acquisition of human biosignals | Acquisition of animal biosignals

ENVIRONMENTAL QUALIty

Levels of air pollutants such as volatile organic compounds, carbon dioxide, gases | Levels of electromagnetic fields | Natural and artificial ventilation levels | Levels of precipitation and wind | Presence of chemicals, nutrients, heavy metals, microbes and other contaminants in water | Waste management

ACOUSTIC

Environmental noise levels (generated by facilities, residential structures, urban or industrial environments) | Sound insulation levels

OPTICAL

Adequate amount of light | Light distribution map | Light intensity control | Color temperature control | Use of natural light | Minimization of glare
